On my way to the Internet Café on Long Street, Cape Town, one of the strangest things ever happened:
After only one week app/down here an old white man – who looked and was dressed pretty ordinary – asked me for the directions to a place whose name i didn't even understand, so i answered:
»I don't know«
»You are not from here?«
»No.«
»Where are you from?«
»Germany.«
»Germany? Then go home and fuck. Make as many children as possible. Go back to Germany to (kill the Jews)™! They kill, they steal, they [this], they…« I rose my hand in front of him, giving him a clear sign to be quiet.
»You know« i said, »others say, that the black people are the problem and should be eradicated, but i think that race and such are not that important.«
He looks in the eye as if he could not believe what he just heared, as if i all of a sudden turned into another enemy of his… On the other hand there was something in his look, as if my words – and the peaceful tone in which they were sent out – gave a tiny, little shake to the concrete walls of his believe systems.
I instantly turned around and went on my way to make some phonecalls.
Later on i realized, that i went out of that situation a bit too fast, cause i still would like to know, whot made him so sure about his opinion. He seemed pretty convinced of his view on the world…
Maybe we will meet again…
